Frequently Asked Questions
Q) Who can join Team Rio?
A) Anyone within the age guidelines for the CMM.
Register online at www.teamrio.kintera.org or please contact
Sarah Beatty with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee to receive an official
TEAM RIO registration form.
Phone: (615) 522-5659 - sarah.beatty@bbbs.org
Q) Are members of Diamond Rio participating?
A) Yes, some of the individual band members will be running with the team - others will be cheering on the sidelines!
Q) When is the Country Music Marathon?
A) The CMM is held in Nashville, TN on April 24, 2010.
Q) What's this Kintera website about?
A) We have a Team Rio fund-raising website at www.teamrio.kintera.org. You can register for Team Rio here, and then create your own personal fund-raising website where you can email friends and family for support. Their email will link them to your site where they can pledge online with a credit card, and that donation is instantly credited to your website total and the team's total. Take a look at this great tool for all team members.
If you have donations that folks have given you, or people have promised pledges to you, please send those to Big Brothers Big Sisters for these amounts to be credited to your website and the team's overall total.
You can mail checks, pledge sheets, etc. to Sarah Beatty at Big Brothers Big Sisters; 1704 Charlotte Avenue, Suite 130; Nashville, TN 37203. You can bring cash to any of the weekly group trainings or call us at (615) 522-5659 and we'll figure out something.
Q) Does Team Rio provide a coach?
A) Yes, we will. As soon as that individual or individuals are determined, we'll post it here.
Q) Will I receive instruction on training?
A) Absolutely! You will be provided with a weekly training schedule, training tips and helpful hints. Also, veteran team members and coaches will give you suggestions on the best running magazines and websites for continued research.
Q) Do I need to train with the Team Rio group?
A) No. However, the team does meet once a week for group runs and hope that you will attend. Guest speakers and guest runners will visit the team, share helpful hints and keep the group motivated. Group run locations and times are to be determined.
Q) What are my fees?
A) You are responsible for your individual registration fee to run/walk the Country Music 1/2 Marathon. Please contact the Country Music Marathon office to complete their registration forms and submit payment.
The CMM office has been very kind in previous years to give TEAM RIO members a discount on their registration. Go ahead and sign up for Team Rio now, but you might want to give us a little while to see if that will be the case for 2010. All registered TEAM RIO members will be the first to know when that happens!
Check out www.cmmarathon.com for information and details.
Q) Is there a minimum amount of money I will raise for TEAM RIO benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee?
A) Yes, you have a very small minimum amount to meet of $250. Team members are encouraged to raise as much money as you can... after all, it's for a great cause! Remember team members each receive a free fund-raising website at www.teamrio.kintera.org, or if you prefer Big Brothers Big Sisters will send you pledge sheets where friends and family can support your participation. Remember, all donations are tax deductible.
Q) Do I have to attend meetings?
A) No, you will be e-mailed all necessary updates.
Q) Can first time runners/walkers join?
A) YES! In fact, several members of the group will be first-time 1/2 marathoners.
Q) Is there a kids event?
A) Yes and we encourage kids to participate in the Kids Marathon on April 23 as Team Rio Kids members. Committee member Anne Sheeler is heading up our little Rio runners. Contact her at sheeleram@juno.com or call (615) 742-1660 or email cmkids@eliteracing.com for more information.
If you have a child that wants to run the regular half marathon with us, that's OK, too!
Q) Can I run the full marathon?
A) Yes, you over-achiever!! We had several TEAM RIO members to run the full marathon in 2009, and we definitely applaud your enthusiasm!
Please consult your physician before starting any exercise or training program.
